Cool [H] Andy Saxton speaks! & Andy Kness Returns!
Reply Quote

Hi fellow City folk, I thought I would let you know that Andy Saxton has been in touch to say that he is very well & busy with his job in Docklands & his training has dropped a bit due to work demands. Though I'm sure he could quickly pick it up!

He also likes the web site & says to say hello!

Also we have had the wonderous return of Andy Kness, who is still attending his Thursday college course, I must say his jokes are just as bad (but really funny) & he has a whole new range of tales to tell - so come along Tuesday's & welcome him back!

For a bunch of students who always have plenty to say - I'm amazed at how quite this part of the site is?

So come on you Karateka let's get some words down, we have a Club grading next Thursday - David, Ian, Kevin, Matt, Shahinoor - are you guys looking forward to it1(HA! HA!)

Maybe some of our younger students may have something to say? (they have plenty to say in the class - & you can't argue with any of it) - over to you.

I must just finish up saying I read so many articles on how Karate Clubs should be run, what training thay should do, Karate is a Martial Art (it is), how Karate compares with other Martial Arts for the street etc.or with other Disciplines etc., or it shouldn't be for fun! well the other Thursday at the end of a lesson we all stood around & sang 'Happy 8th Birthday' in a Hospital Hall surrounded by disused hospital beds to one of our younger students & we all thoroughly enjoyed it - Great Club Spirit or not ? what do you think?

Is good to hear that Andy Saxton is doing well - I still have to say he has the best kicking technique I have ever seen at first hand!

I guess I am the opposite of Andy Kness in that I can make Thursdays, but not Tuesdays, which is a real shame - but I will just have to practice a little more at home to make up for it.

You're right though Ken, we haven't had a lot of chat from many of the Guildhall mob on here, so hopefully we can start some discussions.  I am glad we have got our grading out of the way now, and have the Kata competition to look forward to Hmm [^o)]

I think we do have a very good club spirit, and part of that is to do with the 'different' surroundings we get to train in Smile [:)].  BTW, what's the latest on the new training location?

Hi Ian

I totally agree with you on Andy, but I've trained with guys ( & seen ) who are slightly faster & very powerfull at the same time! (ouch).

Scary ain't it!, Andy being very flexible, quick thinking & quite strong, but it reminds me we had a chap train with us for about a year (James), he had trained in Japan, kickboxed, around 6' 4'' solid as a rock (legs like Arnie) & when he first joined us I told him straight ' you ain't foighting in this club until I get to know you !' I hurt my neck looking up at him. Anyway he was fantastic at the sparring & never hurt (killed ) anyone, he was a very decent, respectfull guy always smiling & he eventually returned to his club in Somerset, where I think he trained with Joe Johnston ? ( a famous Wado karate fighter I hope I got his name right).

I'm off again - sorry yes we hope to be in our new Dojo very soon, construction near complete, some internal politics to sort out (days, times etc.) then I hope to have a permanent Dojo for 2-3 years, regular times etc.I'm not sure how it will all turn out but hey! I never gave any thought to how long Guildhall would last -16 years & here we are.
