£218.50 in sponsorship, thanks again all.  I won't be taking the matching funds from work as many of the people here who I work with are likely to be made redundant at the end of the year, and the company would insist on being part of local publicity which in the circumstances I don't want to do.

Going to be hot on Sunday which is fine for AFTER I've finished, but during ..... phew.  Can anyone supply a water tanker to travel round with me?

Hi John

Wishing you all the very best for Sunday, as it might be a little on the hot side - take it easy ! It will be tough but I know your made of the good stuff, I have done a few runs over the years for charity, one being a 10 miler around Thurrock, as soon as I crossed the finishing line my friend (marathon runner) immediately came up to me as I was grounding to a halt & said 'now run that again & another 6 & a bit miles & your there!

I cannot type my reply as this is a family show, but I think he got the message (HA! HA!) I think it was along the lines of no thank you ?

GOOD LUCK!

Thanks guys I may stop looking at the weather forecast now. The water bombs actually sound like a good idea, do u know where I can get some.  I'm sure getting some kids to throw them would be easy.  If u see a photo of a puddle crossing the line that'll be me.  Someone at work said u won't go training on Monday then, how little some people know! ha

Good Luck for Sunday. And make sure you rub plenty of high factor cream on those bald bits!!!!

If Charlie was about i'm sure he would take great pleasure in water bombing you so you'd better be prepared now the suggestion has been made.

Once again good luck

The 8 or 9 mile mark would be good.  I'm sure my favorite student would never show such disrespect to a senior instructor in the club (I will look out for large buckets over the door - I can just picture Erics face), I'm sure that Sensei Sakagami was left with a lasting impression of Charlie too, having a fit of the giggles when he was trying to explain something!. Still got u more times with the foam sticks on Thursday Charlie (na na, na na na).

What bald bits, cheek, some bits r just slightly more worn than others. Judging by the current forecast I may need an asbestos suit, am just sightly nervous as u can see by the time, I never normally run at all in that temperature!

Well I did it, it was really hard this time (28c) with no shade, someone went down in front of me at the 4 mile mark, I shared my drink but there was no way he going to make it.  In fact I think quite a few people collapsed including I noticed that someone was being ambulanced away at the 13 mile mark (which happened last time I did this).  I got through about 2 litres of fluid, and still didn't need to stop, if u know what I mean.  I had a childrens waterproof factor 40 on, which I think saved me from bursting into flames.  They hosed us down at 11 miles and at the end of the race, lost so much salt I got stomach cramps at 12 miles and have to walk most of the last mile.  The kids with water pistols at various places where really welcome to. Not sure the official time, but I had just over 2 hours 15 minutes, but I was just glad to finish.  Thanks for all the messages of support, and the fact that when I rang some people they had been quite worried because of the heat.  And of course Eric who said it served me right for doing it, and when I said that I would be training tomorrow said he would have told everyone I was a whimp if I didn't (some things never change).

Sum total of injuries, one cut toe, two bruised ones and the hamstring on my left leg that aches a bit.

John Well done mate, yes Eric is always so full of sympathy isn't he when you're injured or under the weather (HA! HA!) good luck for tomorrow night - I'm sure Eric will take it easy on you (I don't think).

It's really strange John as I was stretched out on me sunbed I was thinking I wonder how John is doing now & then carried on reading! & there you were sweating buckets!

Congratulations a great effort for a very worthwhile cause.

He's like one of those soft centres, what are they called chocolate brazils.  Just as well I'm there, people would be training on broken legs.  There's someone else with the same attitude, but I refuse to name her on the grounds that I may get beaten to a pulp (if people guess who u r, it's not my fault is it? You women r so harsh - whistles in a cheeky tone).  It was worth finishing, one of the guys I work with was praying for a heatwave so that he could save a tenner.  One call from a friend who asked how I felt, when I said I finished, he just said I knew u would whatever happened (oh such faith).  I bet if I had got the sunbed out, it would rain.

Wonder what the temperature will be for Sakagamis summer camp in Portugal in August?

The training is apparantly held in an air conditioned sports hall, which must have a bar surely - 6 days of 3 hours of training out there might seem like a breeze to you now - good luck for tonight!

well done John , i too was suffering a bit in the heat yesterday . Despite trying hard i could not find anywhere that had some Magners cider in stock , i had to settle for Strongbow in the end . By the end of the day i had got through a fair few bottles to keep cool you know , watching this World Cup is very tiring .

I`ll probably see you next week , remind me about the fiver i owe you for the run .  Wink [;)]

Thanks to people contributing after the event the total now stands at £228.50.  Thanks again to all.

For those who r interested the official time was 2:15:59 and I was 412th out of 771 finishers (last recorded survivor across the line 3:26:46), doesn't say how many actually started and dropped out.  Thanks to Mitchell and Caine for thinking the medal meant I had got a place, and for contributing Big Smile [:D] (nice one guys)

It did look suspiciously like a chocolate medal but we will give you the benefit of the doubt because it would have melted in the heat xlolx!!!!!!!!!!!!!
