Smile [:)] Yo Charlie!

Hi Charlie,

Just in case I don't get a chance to say it on Thursday, best of luck with the competition in May.

I know that Eric has probably given you his 'don't hang about' speech by now (and he's right), the
first one to go in is often the one to score.  Also, if someone is backing away from you and going
out of the area, they will get penalties against them if they go out again so keep going (don't push
them or kick anywhere you shouldn't Smile [:)]).  If you do okay maybe next time you fall into the sink we
might help you dry off (can't quite remember how that happened ... cough).
Not many people will be able to claim international support (Cyprus beach or bar), and it would be
nice to know how you get on. I was going to give your Mum some contact details as I'm not sure if
you've got Erics so I am sending them to you in a private message in case I forget that as well on
Thursday (I don't think the email thingy is working).  Why not bring in your tee shirt from last year
and let us have a look?

All the best,
John

hi charlie , if you still need to know about the competition rules i asked mike and he also thinks sweeping will be allowed . If you are still worried though about what will be allowed maybe you can find out from one of the officails on the day to confirm whats allowed .

Regards

Dean

Sweeping is allowed, although there are two problems with doing it. To actually catch someone with a full sweep in competition or elsewhere is pretty difficult anyway and scores nothing without a follow up technique. If you try it at all it's easier just to knock them off balance and score which scores two points anyway (chudan kick is also two points).

Better not to over think it really, just do your best, don't hang about (Eric), and as I said win or lose, people have respect for effort (well I do anyway, and I think I'm not alone in that).

Good Luck

Yo Charlie, yes John is spot on as always, of course you can sweep, but you should use it as a distracting technique or unbalancing sharply followed by your KILLER blow or kick! never just try to sweep on its own you will be penalized. The referee will guide you through your scoring, you know what I mean if he scores certain techniques, the clue here is he knows those & will continue to score them! If you sweep & your opponent is upended then continue & score on him!- beware of flying legs though (ouch!).

Good Luck Charlie!
